Specialist infrastructure provider, blu-3, has reinforced its reputation and success in data centre builds after being awarded a further works package for a project on behalf of a social media giant.

blu-3 has already successfully fulfilled a variety of utilities and enabling packages in the first four phases of the development. The latest contract win will see the company complete additional enabling works as part of phases five and six which will enable the rest of the project to be completed on time.

“We have been awarded this contract as a result of our previous outstanding work on this data centre project and various others across Europe. It is great to see that our hard work is being rewarded with further packages on a project which we became involved in during its early stages. blu-3 has proven its reliability in completing complex data centre projects to an extremely high standard and we are proud to have another opportunity to demonstrate our expertise,” said Gerry Curran, director of operations, blu-3.

The works include the laying of haulage roads and footpaths, the erecting of street lights and ducting and the construction of culverts around the site.

Located on the outskirts of Dublin, the data centre will be powered solely by renewable energy and will be one of the most advanced data centres in the world. Work by blu-3 is expected to be completed in October 2019, paving the way for the entire facility to be finished in 2020.
