Digital Realty has announced that MC Digital Realty, a 50/50 joint venture between Mitsubishi Corporation and Digital Realty, has closed on the acquisition of a five-acre land parcel in Tokyo. The site is located at the center of the Inzai data center cluster, one of highest-density areas in Japan with well-established utility and connectivity infrastructure, and home to leading global cloud providers and financial institutions. Demolition of the existing structure on the site will begin immediately and data center development is expected to commence in 2020, subject to planning approvals. The initial facility (NRT10) is expected to deliver over 35 megawatts of total IT capacity to global and regional clients by 2021.
