Telia Carrier has announced the launch of a Cloud Connect service which enables customers to connect directly to cloud service providers globally. Available from over 150 PoPs (Points-of-Presence), the service offers carrier grade performance, reliability and security for cloud users by connecting to major cloud service providers directly over Telia Carrier’s extensive global network. Cloud Connect is the latest addition to Telia Carrier’s data portfolio of wholesale IP, Wavelength, and Ethernet services.

The new Cloud Connect service addresses demand from existing wholesale customers but also directly from enterprises, presenting a new market opportunity for Telia Carrier. By listening to customers and partners, Telia Carrier has designed a Cloud Connect service that is flexible and supports the fluidity cloud users want. A transparent and predictable pricing model also ensures that customers maintain full visibility over their cloud connectivity spend.

“We believe that the coverage and scale of our global network combined with our award winning customer service, backed up by a solid SLA, make us stand out in the cloud connectivity space” says Staffan Göjeryd, CEO Telia Carrier.

Telia Carrier is excited about the launch of this new offering, which facilitates access to all major cloud providers and looks forward to developing the service with additional cloud providers and locations during the coming months.

Top-ranked global backbone
Telia Carrier’s global fiber backbone has grown organically, without acquisitions, and was the first to be 100G-enabled in both Europe and North America. It was also the first network to successfully transmit 1 Tb/s in super channels on its U.S. network. According to Dyn Research’s global backbone rankings, Telia Carrier’s global IP backbone, AS1299, is currently ranked number one. Telia Carrier’s rapid growth and ascension through the rankings was highlighted in Dyn’s ‘Baker’s Dozen’ report. The company enables worldwide connectivity by connecting more than 230 Points of Presence (PoPs) across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East, including more than 80 PoPs in North America alone.
