Equinix, Inc. has announced that it has joined the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), a not-for-profit organization with a mission to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within cloud computing, and to provide education on the uses of cloud computing to help secure all other forms of computing.

While many enterprise CIOs understand the importance of moving to the cloud for business agility and performance gain, many still cite security as a significant barrier to cloud adoption. In fact, in a recent study, "The Enterprise of the Future," security topped the list of enterprise IT concerns, with 64% of survey respondents reporting that security worries could drive them to consider re-architecting their IT infrastructure over the next 12 months. By providing secure and direct connections to multiple cloud providers via its Equinix Cloud Exchange™ solution, Equinix enables the interconnected enterprise to bypass the public internet and therefore realize the benefits of the cloud in a more secure manner.  Equinix Cloud Exchange is an advanced interconnection solution that enables seamless, on-demand and secure direct-access to multiple clouds from multiple networks in Equinix International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data centers around the world.

"Equinix Cloud Exchange provides direct, secure interconnection to multiple cloud service providers and applications with very high throughput and consistency.  Businesses of all sizes are leveraging it to securely access thousands of cloud services, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Office 365, Google Cloud Platform and Oracle Cloud. By joining the Cloud Security Alliance, we are helping to continue to solve the cloud security concerns for our growing enterprise customer base," said Brian Lillie, CIO, Equinix.

"Equinix's Cloud Exchange brings a remarkable capability to the cloud computing industry: direct cloud computing interconnections that bypass the public Internet, which has interesting and positive implications for cloud security. We're excited to have Equinix join the CSA fold alongside other influential cloud computing market leaders," said Jim Reavis, CEO, Cloud Security Alliance.
