Consolidated Communications’ welcomes Hurricane Electric to its Houston-based Walker Meet Me Room (MMR) at 811 Louisiana, which offers fiber assets and provides regional, national, and international access.

“Our new connection with Hurricane provides a direct exchange of IP traffic over a low latency backbone resulting in reduced long haul transit costs, not only for our carrier fiber exchange customers, but also businesses within the DASH region,” said Brian Carr, vice president of carrier services at Consolidated Communications. “Our client’s reach has now become global while strengthening the IP offering in the Houston market.”

This partnership will enable customers of Consolidated Communications access to Hurricane Electric’s IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) service, providing increased throughput, reduced latency and improved reliability in the delivery of next generation IP services.

“Hurricane Electric is excited to partner with Consolidated Communications,” said Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric. “This partnership strengthens Hurricane Electric’s commitment to the Houston area and will provide increased bandwidth and global network connectivity options for customers in Consolidated’s Walker MMR data center.”

Located in the heart of Houston’s downtown business district, the Walker MMR at 811 Louisiana Street, houses tier I carriers, wireless providers, higher education entities and remote DC partners. Tenants may enter the MMR via their own building facilities or utilize Consolidated’s diverse entrances in and out of Houston’s largest fiber hub.
