Lumos Networks Corp. has announced that David Davis Communications has chosen Lumos’ colocation facility in Washington, PA and Dedicated Internet Access service to expand its offerings. David Davis Communications, a Value Added Reseller (VAR) serving western Pennsylvania, will use the Lumos site and Internet service to offer hosted IT infrastructure and backup solutions to its customers.
“While many of our customers rely on us to partner with them and advise them on their IT initiatives, others may want to offload their IT services completely. This starts with us being able to host their equipment and back up their data in a conditioned environment designed to keep the systems running,” explained Mike Joos, vice president at David Davis Communications. “The Lumos facility gives us an easily accessible site close to our office with the physical infrastructure, control and convenience we are looking for, along with high-speed fiber-based Internet access.”
Lumos’ Washington, PA site provides highly resilient access to the Lumos fiber-optic network in a space with primary and backup power sources, redundant cooling systems, fire suppression, environmental monitoring and security. The facility is protected by its location off the Pittsburgh power grid and outside the downtown Pittsburgh central business district. The site is served by the full suite of Lumos network services including Dedicated Internet Access, Wavelengths, Dedicated Transport, and MEF-certified Ethernet. These features make the facility ideal for enterprises and VARs in the region that need carrier-class colocation space in southwestern Pennsylvania directly connected to a premium network.
“Many businesses are looking for secure IT space with robust network connectivity they can use to house equipment for production or backup purposes,” said Joseph E. McCourt, chief revenue officer for Lumos Networks. “Our colocation sites fit the bill in this scenario because they provide a turnkey, hardened, resilient facility for IT gear, which is directly connected to our 8,408-mile fiber optic network.” In addition to the Washington, PA site, Lumos operates six other colocation facilities and is connected to 26 other commercial and private data centers.
