Industry veteran Fred Lewis has been appointed vice president global sales and service for battery monitoring technology company, PowerShield.

Lewis joined the company earlier in the year, as vice president North America, from a consulting role, and has over 25 years’ experience in the Critical Power industry. PowerShield president and CEO, Len Thomas said the appointment was significant for PowerShield, and believed Lewis’ new role would have great benefits for customers.

“Fred Lewis brings highly specific knowledge and understanding of mission critical power systems: battery technology, uninterruptible power systems, telecom power systems, utility switchgear control back up power and data center power systems,” said Thomas. “These are all sweet spots for PowerShield and we look forward to bringing this expertise to our customers and partners around the world.”

Lewis brings a proven track record of building best-in-class sales and service organizations in the critical power market.

“PowerShield is a company with a global presence and the time has come to build on this capability using a planned approach. I strive in developing a team approach that will utilize our strengths to better serve our clients,” he said.

Fred Lewis believes that proper battery management has become essential for reliability in today’s mission critical power systems.

“Users spend a tremendous amount of money on protecting their systems against power outages and the heart and soul of this protection is the battery. All too often they buy the battery then ignore the condition of the battery because it isn’t readily seen. The battery can provide a lot of information on its health if only you know how to listen.

“PowerShield battery monitoring and management solutions do ‘the listening’ and communicate the information in ways that allow for the assets to be managed and for actions to be planned before there is a power loss.”

Lewis sees his immediate priorities as consolidating the PowerShield global sales and service team, capitalizing on the experience and talent within the company.
