News outlets are reporting that Apple has begun construction on a 10,000-sq-ft modular data center in Prineville, OR, which will run on 100 percent renewable energy. The company’s Maiden, NC data center currently garners 60 percent of its power from solar energy.

According to the Ubergizmo blog, the company was spurred to action over a claim by Greenpeace that Apple was using “19thcentury coal energy to power its plant that hosts iCloud.”
