Lee Technologies, the leading provider of complete data center solutions and resources to some of the most information-reliant corporations and government organizations in the world, has introduced its latest innovation in critical-facility infrastructure design and construction - Flexible Solutions.

The program revolutionizes the industry's traditional method of developing critical facilities by helping customers avoid unnecessary overbuilding through a modular approach that delivers extreme flexibility, cost savings and energy-efficient operations. To support this approach, Lee Technologies has developed proprietary vendor-neutral IT and support modules that give customers a data center that grows with them - so organizations have what they need, when and where they need it the most.

"It's critical in every data center project that organizations start with a business-strategy focus first, and then build a tactical solution. The result will be a solution that is simple, cost-effective, green and efficient," said Mike Hagan, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Lee Technologies. "One of the biggest mistakes we've seen repeatedly over the years is the overbuilding of data centers just to meet tier-level requirements that sometimes aren't even necessary to support the customer's needs. This is not only a waste of money, but it's a waste of energy. Our Flexible Solutions will solve these challenges for customers of all types, sizes and tier levels.

In the Flexible Solutions approach, Lee Technologies uses a combination of traditional raised-floor designs, proprietary IT and support modules, and hybrid configurations to achieve the most effective solutions for its customers. The two proprietary Lee Technologies modules include:
  • IT Module - This cost-effective, vendor-neutral IT module brings complete modularity to the all users. Utilizing outside air for primary cooling mode, the modules average a 1.2-1.3 PUE and can be deployed in about 10 weeks. It comes in a standard 20-foot weatherproof ISO container and can hold up to six standard 42U racks rated at 10-14KW each. The systems are designed to be installed indoors or outdoors.
  • Support Modules - These highly configurable, scalable and expandable UPS containers can be delivered in multiple capacities and multiple redundancy configurations to meet specific needs. They can be rapidly deployed in 12-14 weeks or less, come in 20- or 40-foot insulated, weatherproof ISO containers designed for outdoor installation.
Both modules can be upgraded as needed, without interruption to critical operations, in a "just in time fashion," delivering complete flexibility and preservation of capital.

"For data center owners and operators, Flexible Solutions provides a new way to maximize the total value of their data centers by allowing for more executable space," said Hagan.

"Flexible Solutions will provide a unique and powerful solution to government organizations faced with consolidation and modernization," said Anthony Rizzo, senior vice president, public sector, at Lee Technologies. "Modules can play an important role in supporting government agencies or military organizations with basic computing and storage needs, or when they are faced with emerging challenges such as rapid deployment, setting up IT systems in remote locations or during disaster-relief operations. We look forward to working closely with our government customers and integrators to develop cost-effective and energy-efficient solutions that meet their needs and help them achieve their missions."

Earlier this month, the company announced the launch of Lee Genesys, a groundbreaking assessment program that helps clients define and meet their data center infrastructure requirements and avoid unnecessary overbuilding, which is the most common and costly mistake in the design of data centers, and also a key driver behind the creation of Flexible Solutions. The ultimate company goal is to help customers reduce the total cost of ownership and positively impact their organizations' return on investment.

"Our Lee Genesys program is an important first step in any customer engagement," said George Newstrom, chief operating officer of Lee Technologies. "During Lee Genesys, we identify the customer's biggest pain points, challenges and needs, and determine the most appropriate solution for helping that customer achieve success. Combined with our new Flexible Solutions, we now have even more ways to generate creative, out-of-the-box solutions to help customers reduce costs and enable their critical facilities to run more efficiently."

Lee Technologies' new white paper, titled "The Evolution of the Data Center: Using Modular Designs to Gain a Business Advantage," is available for free at www.leetechwhitepapers.com and provides insight into the common problems with traditional data center designs and the role modular solutions can play in addressing them.

The Flexible Solutions program will make its full debut at AFCOM's Data Center World in Las Vegas, Oct. 3-6.
