Juniper Networks has announced that it has joined the board of the Climate Savers Computing Initiative, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing power consumption in information and communications technology (ICT). Existing industry-leading members of the initiative have worked to increase the adoption of energy-efficient PCs and servers and increase awareness and use of computer power management. Juniper Networks joins Climate Savers Computing to help expand the scope of the initiative to the network.
"By participating in the Climate Savers Computing Initiative, Juniper is demonstrating a meaningful commitment to furthering the definition and adoption of energy-efficient ICT technology," said Arne Josefsberg, general manager of Windows Azure Infrastructure at Microsoft Corp. and board of directors member for Climate Savers Computing. "Juniper's leadership paves the way for other companies and individuals and together we can dramatically reduce global CO2 emissions beyond the computing devices. In the increasingly connected world, we need to look at the broader picture to ensure sustainability of our industry."
"Juniper Networks is continuing its innovation in network technology energy efficiency, both through next-generation product development, as well as driving awareness of energy-efficient networking technologies among customers," said Oliver Tavakoli, CTO of Juniper's Service Layer Technologies Business Group. "By working with Climate Savers Computing, Juniper Networks is helping lead the movement toward a more clean and tenable future by leveraging the new network."
